Director told the reason for removing Saif from ‘Bekhudi’: Rahul Rawail said – removed due to irresponsible attitude, the girlfriend thing was wrong
Saif Ali Khan was about to debut in Bollywood in the year 1992. His first film was ‘Bekhudi’, in which he got a chance to work with Kajol. At that time this project was very popular in Bollywood and was considered a big step for Saif’s career. However, later he did not become a part of ‘Bekhudi’ and he debuted as an actor with the film ‘Parampara’ (1993). Which was directed by Yash Chopra. Saif himself has claimed in several interviews in the past that he was removed indiscriminately because the director had told him that he should break up with his girlfriend, otherwise he would have to leave the film. Saif believes that he left the shooting due to this condition. Saif had told this in an interview given to Mumbai Mirror in the year 2020, but now after 34 years, ‘Bekhudi’ director Rahul Rawail has told his truth about this. In an interview given to Screen, he said that Saif was not removed from the film because he refused to leave his girlfriend. Whatever was heard and told then is wrong. According to Rahul, the real reason was Saif’s irresponsible behaviour. He did not come to the shooting on time, and was negligent in various ways. Because of this he had to face a lot of problems, and the shoot started getting delayed. The director told that he wanted to clarify this matter for so many years, and now he has put forward his side. He said that Saif’s behavior style at that time was such that it was common to not reach the set on time and not appear serious towards work. Rawail told that due to this negligence and irregularity, he thought it better to remove Saif from the film. Rahul Rawail also said that the way of working in films was very different at that time compared to today, and it was very important for an artist to have a professional attitude. In a directorial job, punctuality, availability on the set and display of seriousness matter a lot, and Saif’s behavior did not reflect this quality. Rahul also admitted that Saif Ali Khan has a very successful career today and has made a lot of positive changes in his professional life. Rawail said that today Saif is serious about his work, this is clearly visible from his performance and achievements. Apart from ‘Bekhudi’, Rahul Rawail has also talked about his film career. He said that he has not been directing films for many years, and he feels that at present no one is ready to give him a new film. Some people have misconceptions about their health or abilities, due to which they are not getting opportunities. He directly expresses that he still wants to direct films, but offers are not coming. According to him, the notion that he is not active is absolutely wrong.
