Delhi Chief Minister has paid Rs 1 crore as Covid ex gratia to the kin of six deceased government employees

New Delhi: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday handed over a check of Rs 1 crore as financial assistance to the families of six Delhi government employees who lost their lives in the line of duty during the COVID-19 pandemic. Gupta said the gesture was not merely an official formality, but a sincere expression of gratitude, sympathy and respect. “At a time when the world was gripped by fear and uncertainty, these brave men put duty above all else and continued to serve people without caring for their own lives,” he said.Interacting with the families, Gupta assured that the Delhi government would stand by them like an extended family and provide all possible support, a CMO statement said.Six families are related to deceased employees of MCD, DTC, Delhi Jal Board, Indian Spinal Injury Centre, NDMC and Maulana Azad Medical College. Lamenting the delay in distribution of aid by the previous government in Delhi, the Chief Minister said no amount of compensation could compensate the families for the loss. The beneficiaries also include the family of Delhi Traffic Police assistant sub-inspector Radhe Shyam and the family of a dead child in Dwarka, the statement said.
