The wrap was organized at Hedgewar Arogya Sanstha Hospital in Shahdara area to mark the 100th anniversary of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
“It is a great source of inspiration for us that the Delhi government has erected a statue of such a tall figure on the occasion of 100 years of RSS,” said the Chief Minister.
The RSS was founded on 27 September 1925 in Nagpur by Keshav Boliram Hedgewar, a physician from Maharashtra. The outfit started small with a ‘shakha’ (branch) and over the years has grown into a huge organization in the country.
Gupta said the vision and mission initiated by Hedgewar has today become a “strong and comprehensive” organization dedicated to the service of the nation.
His vision of mobilizing society through character-building laid a “firm foundation” for India’s cultural awakening, he said, adding that the statue at the institute was not merely a memorial but a continuing source of inspiration that embodied service, dedication and the ‘first nation’ spirit.
The Chief Minister said Hedgewar Hospital has been dedicated to serving the people of trans-Yamuna region for decades. Gupta also said the government would work towards expanding the hospital by adding another floor to its building and equipping it with the latest machines in the coming days.
Several BJP MLAs including Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh and Shahdara MLA Sanjay Goyal, other public representatives, doctors, paramedical staff and citizens were present on the occasion.
The Chief Minister also informed that all government hospitals in Delhi have now been fully digitized. Every patient has a digital health record, online OPD appointment facility has been introduced, and according to him complete medical history can be accessed at the click of a button in any hospital.
He expressed confidence that the statue of Dr. Hedgewar will act as an inspiration to the doctors and staff of the hospital, inspiring them to work every day with renewed energy and spirit of service.
