New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday dismissed claims that the ‘Pink Saheli Card’ is not working, saying some politicians are trying to spread false rumors about its use.“Under political propaganda, some politicians are trying to spread rumors about ‘pink card’ for women in Delhi that if you travel in a bus once and tap once and then get off the bus to take another one, it cannot be tapped again. This is a lie. Your cards are working 100% well. With ‘pink card’, a person has the convenience of going on a private trip and you don’t have to worry about a person. You can easily generate your ‘pink card’,” CM Gupta said.He also took a swipe at the Aam Aadmi Party, claiming they were ‘disturbed’ by welfare initiatives offered to women, including bicycles and ‘pink Saheli cards’.“When ‘AAP’ daughters are fed up with bicycles, how will Saheli Pink Card appeal to them. Pink Saheli Card is working perfectly. Free rides. Tap it. Be worry free,” CM Gupta wrote on X. Earlier, President Draupadi Murmu launched four women welfare schemes of the Delhi government at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.According to officials, the four schemes are ‘Saheli Pink Smart Card’, ‘Free LPG Cylinder Scheme, Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, and ‘Meri Punji Mera Adhikar.’Under the initiative, the Pink Card was introduced under the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) framework, which provides free bus travel to eligible women and transgender residents. The card will allow payments on metro and regional rapid transit systems with a single touch-free smart card. The cards will be issued at around 50 DM/SDM offices and selected DTC centres, whose eligibility will be verified through Aadhaar and linked to the beneficiary’s mobile number. The Chief Minister said that this initiative would prove to be a milestone in making public transport more accessible, safe and digital.During the festival two free LPG cylinders, the scheme will be provided through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). An amount equal to the current value of a cylinder will be credited to the head of the household’s Aadhaar-linked bank account. About 15.50 lakh ration card holder families will benefit from this scheme. The third initiative, ‘Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana’, focuses on financial empowerment of girls. Under the scheme, Rs 56,000 will be deposited in installments in the name of a girl child, which is expected to cross Rs 1 lakh by the age of 21 with interest. The fourth mechanism involves disbursement of pending dues under ‘Meri Punji Mera Adhikar’, so that financial rights of citizens are resolved in a timely and transparent manner.
