New Delhi: Congress the leader Rahul Gandhi Dr. asked the Prime Minister on Saturday Narendra Modi On the duration of the India-US Interim Trade Agreement.Addressing a Mazdoor Kisan Maha rally in Punjab’s Barnala, Rahul said the deal was stalled for four months due to disagreements over opening up the agriculture sector.
“Then the question arises, why did the prime minister do the work in 15 minutes, which he did not do for four months?” he asked. “What pressure was that the Prime Minister of India signed a death warrant for our country there. He signed a death warrant for our farmers. He gave us data. He signed a death warrant for our small and medium industries,” he alleged.Rahul also said that the Prime Minister has given a guarantee to US President Donald Trump that India will buy US goods worth Rs 9 lakh crore every year. He said opening up the agriculture sector would allow American products to enter the Indian market and hurt farmers in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.“Narendra Modi has opened the door to agriculture. American products will come in, our farmers will be destroyed,” he said. “No prime minister of India, be it Congress party, BJP or any other party, can open agriculture, no prime minister can.”Rahul also claimed that he was not allowed to speak in the Lok Sabha after the President’s address because he wanted to refer to an unpublished book by former army chief General Manoj Naravane (retd). He alleged that the memoir described the political leadership’s lack of response to Chinese troop movements near the border.“Only the prime minister of the country can give the order to fire on the Chinese army. Neither the army chief nor the defense minister can give it. Naravane ji asked the prime minister if we can fire and stop them. There was no response for 2 hours. After that, Naravane ji got orders to do whatever he thought fit,” he said.
