New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday inaugurated NDMC’s two-day Flower Festival at Connaught Place, drawing visitors to the heart of the capital to a colorful showcase of seasonal blooms and various flower-themed displays.New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) launched its festival at Central Park in Connaught Place. The event started with a short program attended by NDMC officials and citizens.Gupta congratulated the NDMC officials saying that the council has helped build a green and positive image of Delhi.“People used to go to Kashmir to get their pictures taken with tulip flowers; now they don’t need to go there, central Delhi has lots of tulips,” he said while inaugurating the flower festival.CM Gupta said, “Whenever there is a big event, be it the G20 or the recent AI India Impact Summit, the NDMC has done a commendable job of keeping the area clean and planting thousands of tulips.”He urged other civic bodies in Delhi to take inspiration from NDMC in creating more green spaces in the national capital.“NDMC has become a model civic council for creating green spaces in the country. We want all of Delhi to be this green and vibrant,” the Chief Minister said on the occasion.If required, the Delhi government will send horticulture departments of other agencies for training under NDMC, he added.The Chief Minister added that the Delhi government will provide all necessary resources to the NDMC which will help create greenery across the city.The festival features flower arrangements, landscape exhibitions and horticultural presentations aimed at promoting urban gardening and green awareness.Families, office-goers and morning walkers were seen stopping by the park throughout the day to view the display and take pictures, officials said.NDMC officials said that while the festival will continue on March 4, the civic body expects steady footfall for two days as the venue will be open to the public.The annual event is part of NDMC’s efforts to encourage interest in horticulture while adding a splash of color to the Connaught Place area during the spring season, officials said.
