‘Calculated Hindi imposition’: MK Stalin slams Centre over CBSE’s new three-language curriculum | India News
New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin criticized the Center on Saturday CBSEIts new curriculum framework, calling it a calculated attempt at linguistic imposition favors Hindi over regional languages. In a post on X, Stalin wrote, “The recently unveiled curriculum framework is not an innocent academic reform; it is a calculated and deeply related attempt at linguistic imposition.”He added that “under the guise of promoting Indian languages”, the BJP-led NDA government is aggressively pushing a centralization agenda that privileges Hindi and systematically marginalizes India’s rich and diverse linguistic heritage.Stalin questioned whether students in Hindi-speaking states would also be required to learn Tamil, Telugu or Kannada.“For students in southern states, this framework effectively translates into compulsory Hindi learning. Yet, where is the reciprocity?” he asked, adding that the lack of clarity shows the one-sided and discriminatory nature of the policy. The Chief Minister also criticized the Center for not making Tamil compulsory in Kendriya Vidyalayas and not recruiting enough Tamil teachers. “It’s not a promise; it’s rank hypocrisy,” he said.Stalin said such policies threatened India’s linguistic diversity and called on the AIADMK and its NDA allies in Tamil Nadu to take a stand. The Central Board of Secondary Education is said to be planning to introduce a phased three-language policy starting from Class 6 from the academic year 2026-27. Under this students should learn three languages, at least two Indian languages.
