Apart from this, all the posters, trailers and promotional materials related to the old name have also already been removed. Earlier on Thursday, the court had reprimanded filmmaker Neeraj Pandey and OTT platform Netflix and said that no social class can be defamed by such a name. The court had also made it clear that unless the changed name of the film was told, the release would not be allowed. The name of the film was announced with the teaser. Netflix also announced Manoj Bajpayee’s ‘Ghushkhor Pandat’ on 3 February 2026 by releasing the teaser. But as soon as its teaser was released, controversy started regarding its title. People took to the streets. After this the matter reached the court. In the teaser, Manoj Bajpayee is seen in the role of Senior Inspector Ajay Dixit, who is known as ‘Pandit’ in Delhi. The film depicts him as a disgraced police officer. According to the teaser, Dixit was recruited as SI 20 years ago and due to his exploits, he was repeatedly demoted. Brahmin community opposed the film. At different places, Brahmin community has filed complaints against Netflix’s ‘Ghooskhor Pandit’. Apart from this, Mumbai lawyer Ashutosh Dubey alleges that associating a respectable word like ‘Pandat’ with corruption is not only irresponsible but also hurts the dignity of the entire community. The notice states that the film is deliberately trying to tarnish the image of a community. This is not just creative freedom but harming the reputation of a community in the name of art. He says that the name of the film has been kept only with the intention of spreading sensation, in which social sensitivity has been ignored. Along with this, the lawyer has also demanded to change the name of the film. The teaser of the film ‘Ghooskhor Pandat’ was removed. The teaser of the film and all the promotional content related to it were removed from Netflix India’s social media accounts and YouTube. Regarding the film, Neeraj Pandey wrote on his Instagram story, Our film is a fictional police drama and in it the word ‘Pandat’ has been used only as a colloquial name for a fictional character. The focus of this story is on one person’s work and his decisions. It has no connection with any caste, religion or community nor does it represent anyone. He further wrote, as a filmmaker, I take my responsibilities seriously and want to tell stories that are made thoughtfully and with respect. Like my previous works, this film has also been made with honest intentions and just to entertain the audience.
