Bjp Response To Sonia Gandhi: ‘Khamenei supported J&K rebels’: BJP hits out at Sonia Gandhi | India News
New Delhi: BJP Slamming Sonia Gandhi over the government’s silence on the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a US-Israeli strike on Tuesday, the party recalled Iran’s dead support for separatist forces in Kashmir and said diplomacy cannot be reduced to appeasement or transactional politics.BJP foreign affairs chief Vijay Chauthaiwale cited several statements by Khamenei that were critical of India and said Sonia needed to “brush” her memory. In a statement in 2017, the Iranian leader “called on the Muslim world to openly support the people of Yemen, Bahrain and Kashmir and reject the oppressors and oppressors who attack them,” Chauthaiwale said. “India has not remained silent. It has consistently called for restraint, respect for sovereignty and de-escalation. With millions of citizens living and working across the Gulf, with critical economic and energy links, rash comments are neither practical nor responsible.” Sonia’s article portrays India’s response to the crisis as “silence” and reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of responsible diplomacy, BJP’s Amit Malviya said. He added that when Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi was killed in 2011, the Congress-led UPA government did not condole or condemn it. “Was the UPA wrong in 2011, or is the Modi government right today? One cannot have two foreign policies: one in opposition and one in power,” he said.
