New Delhi: A video showing a large crowd allegedly parading and assaulting a woman in Bihar’s Nalanda district went viral on social media on Tuesday, sparking intense political reactions. The opposition has targeted the ruling NDA coalition for the “collapse” of law and order in the state, calling it the “start of Manipur-like atrocities”.The incident, which took place a few days ago in Noor Sarai area, came to light after the alleged video surfaced online.Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav condemned the incident, calling it a “shameful incident in Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s home district”.“It was an attempted gang-rape. Those who molested the woman tore her clothes. The incident presents a frightening picture of the broken law and order situation in Bihar,” he alleged.The RJD also took to social media to lash out at the JDU government, posting, “Nitish Kumar’s so-called ‘good governance’ tops!” The Bihar Congress intensified its attack, drawing parallels with the incident in Manipur where two women were paraded naked by a mob, and said the Nalanda case reflected a similar pattern of brutality.“Manipur-like atrocities started from Nitish Kumar’s home district in Bihar even before BJP became CM!” The team Dr.The Congress party echoed similar concerns, saying that “the woman was subjected to absolutely despicable behavior. This incident shows that ‘jungle raj’ is fully prevalent in Bihar and women are not safe,” it added.Sharpening its attack, the party accused the ruling coalition of protecting criminals. “The BJP-JDU government is providing protection to criminals, and now those same criminals are openly roaming the streets and committing such atrocities,” it added.Police said the woman lodged a complaint on March 26, following which two accused Ashok Yadav and Matlu Mahto, residents of Ajaypur village, were arrested. Efforts are on to nab the others seen in the video, they added.
