Allegation of violation of rules in the shooting of ‘Dhurandhar 2’: Aditya Dhar’s production house blacklisted; BMC took action

Director Aditya Dhar’s production house B62 Studios was blacklisted on Monday from obtaining permission to shoot the film Dhurandhar 2 in Mumbai. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has alleged repeated violations of safety rules during the shooting of the film. The company will no longer be able to obtain permission from Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation Limited. The Deputy Municipal Commissioner of BMC’s Zone 1 has approved permanent blacklisting of B62 Studios and two other applicants Komal Pokhriyal and Nasir Khan, The Indian Express reported, quoting BMC officials. Officials said that now they will not be able to apply for shooting permission on the website of Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation Limited. BMC has recommended a fine of ₹1 lakh for shooting on the terrace of the building and using two generator vans without permission. Along with this, a demand has also been made to confiscate the security deposit of ₹25,000. According to the Municipal Corporation, the production house had sought permission to shoot between February 7 and 8. On January 30, permission was granted for shooting at Modi Street and Perin Nariman Street in A Ward. Officials claim that the police department’s conditions were completely violated on the set. The permission prohibited the use of firecrackers and inflammable materials. After the violation, deposits were confiscated and a warning of blacklist was given. After this, Komal Pokhriyal sought fresh permission for 13 and 14 February, but the application was canceled citing the first violation. Then on February 14, a new application was made for shooting from 12:30 pm to 4 am. The applicants gave assurances that inflammable materials would not be used, after which permission was granted with conditions. However, according to BMC officials, around 12:45 am on February 14, Mumbai Police received a complaint that burning torches were being used during the shooting. Police reached the spot and seized five burning torches. After the second incident, the applicants assured that the scenes related to fire will now be filmed through VFX. The A ward office has also recommended withholding of future shooting permissions against Komal Pokhriyal and Nashir Khan. Let us tell you that ‘Dhurandhar 2’ is being directed by Aditya Dhar. The film stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on March 19, 2026.
