In a row, the TMC party wanted to meet the President but was denied time

New Delhi: In an unusual development, TMC MPs have sought an appointment with President Draupadi Murmu to apprise her about the welfare initiatives undertaken by the Bengal government. However, the Rashtrapati Bhavan rejected their request citing “lack of time”, according to sources. This comes after a political row erupted over alleged protocol lapses during Murmur’s visit to Bengal on March 7.A senior TMC member had written to the President on March 9 submitting that a delegation of AITC comprising LS and RS members and West Bengal ministers wanted to meet him to share the state government’s many initiatives for inclusive development of all sections of society. However, the Rashtrapati Bhavan has sent a communication to the TMC informing it that its request has been considered but cannot be accepted. The TMC has again written to the President’s office, asking for next week’s time.
