A village campus is beating the crisis with biogas & contingency planning | India News
At a time when long queues for LPG cylinders are becoming common, a village campus near Vadodara in Gujarat presents a sustainable alternative. The Muni Seva Ashram campus in Goraj runs a solar-powered kitchen and biogas system that prepares food for about 5,000 people every day without relying on LPG. The campus also houses a cancer hospital and research center. The temple committee is making emergency plans at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. “We have not experienced any supply-chain break in PNG or commercial LPG cylinders, but contingencies are being prepared,” said Ashish Falwadia, PRO of the temple committee. About 40 quintals of laddu prasadam are made daily in the laddu unit, which runs on commercial LPG. The temple, one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, receives 1.5 lakh to 2 lakh devotees on a regular day. 5,000 to 7,000 people are fed daily in the paddy field.
