RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav has been sent to jail in connection with the protest and confrontation with the police during the Bihar Bandh. After arresting him, Patna Police produced him before the Magistrate late on Saturday evening, from where he was sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
Actually, Bihar bandh was called on Saturday in protest against NEET paper leak and police action against protesting students. Tej Pratap Yadav Had also reached Ramgulam Chowk in Patna along with the students in support of the bandh and sat on dharna on the road. After this, when Tej Pratap Yadav started marching with students from Ramgulam Chowk towards Dak Bungalow intersection, the police stopped him near Exhibition Road and took him into custody.
However, later in the evening Tej Pratap Yadav was present in a mall in Patna. Meanwhile, a team of Patna Police reached there with heavy police force and arrested him and took him away.
Hanging from the door of the police vehicle, he said – we are standing with the students.
While being detained by the police, Tej Pratap Yadav was seen hanging from the door of the police vehicle. He said, ‘We stand shoulder to shoulder with the students. If needed, I am ready to sacrifice my life for the rights of the students.
Before joining the protest, Tej Pratap Yadav had supported the demands of the students on the issue of NEET paper leak. He had also reiterated the demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Bihar Demonstrations in many districts of
Let us tell you that during Bihar Bandh, leftist student organizations also demonstrated in many districts. During this period, clashes broke out between the protesters and the police at some places.
During the protest in the capital Patna, an incident of stone pelting came to light at Dak Bungalow intersection, after which the police tightened the security arrangements. Additional police forces were deployed in many areas of the city.
According to the police, the effect of the bandh was not uniform across Bihar. Demonstrations and incidents of stone pelting took place in some areas like Patna, while the impact of the bandh was relatively less in districts like Nalanda, Nawada, Jehanabad and Rohtas.
