Uttar Pradesh STF has arrested two members of a gang who evaded toll and online challan by making Fastag on the basis of fake vehicle number and forged documents from Lucknow.
The arrested accused have been identified as Anant Ram Rathore and Naqib Khan (resident of Khairabad, Sitapur). Both on 22 July 2026 Lucknow Has been arrested from Polytechnic intersection.
Let us tell you, two mobile phones, two PAN cards and Rs 4,230 in cash were recovered from the accused. According to the STF, the gang used to avoid toll tax and online challan on national highways by issuing Fastag through fake vehicle numbers and fake documents, due to which the government suffered a loss of crores of rupees in revenue.
Investigation revealed that vehicle owner Riyaz and his brother Siraj got IndusInd Bank’s Fastag made using fake RC and fake vehicle number and used it on other vehicles.
During interrogation, Naqib Khan told that he was a Fastag agent of IndusInd Bank and along with Anant Ram Rathore, in the greed of more money, he prepared Fastags of many vehicles with fake numbers.
The accused confessed that both of them used to divide the amount and commission received for making fake Fastag among themselves. This case is related to the case registered in Police Station Sarojini Nagar, Lucknow, which is being investigated by STF.
STF presented both the accused in the court, from where they were sent to the district jail. Further investigation is going on in the matter.
