The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted another day of heavy rain in Northeast India, Bihar and West Bengal on Tuesday, July 14. At the same time, monsoon activities are expected to remain weak in most parts of North-West, Central and Peninsular India.
Season This pattern reflects the ongoing stagnation in the southwest monsoon, with the monsoon trough shifting closer to the Himalayan foothills. As a result, heavy rainfall activities have become concentrated over eastern and northeastern parts of the country, while rainfall over other large parts has become subdued.
According to IMD, heavy to very heavy rain will continue at some places in Northeast India, West Bengal and Bihar for the next three to four days.

Maximum rainfall is expected in Meghalaya, where more than 20 cm rainfall may occur at some places. There is a possibility of heavy rain in some parts of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
This estimate has been made after heavy rain in the last 24 hours. Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim recorded very heavy rainfall, while eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura received very heavy rainfall. Heavy rainfall between 7 to 11 cm has also been reported from Arunachal Pradesh, Gangetic plains West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
The IMD attributed these persistent rains to several active weather systems, including a monsoon trough extending from Sri Ganganagar to Manipur, a cyclonic circulation over south Bangladesh, north Bay of Bengal and east Bangladesh, and a trough extending from northwest Bihar to Manipur. A Western Disturbance over Central Pakistan is also affecting the weather in Northern India.
