Meanwhile, Saurav Joshi, one of the biggest vloggers of the country, has raised questions regarding E20 petrol.
Saurabh Joshi has raised serious questions about the falling mileage of his expensive Mercedes-Benz SUV. He claims that the mileage of the car has suddenly reduced by half and now he is worried about the health of the engine. This video of his is becoming increasingly viral on social media.
Famous YouTuber Saurav Joshi, associated with Haldwani, Uttarakhand, has posted on his YouTube channel ‘Race with Brothers, who will win?’ Shared a vlog with the name. Saurav, who has more than 4.1 crore subscribers, showed the live dashboard of his Mercedes-Benz SUV in the video and said that there has been a surprising decline in the mileage of the car within just 48 hours. He told that earlier the car was showing an average of up to 17 km per liter, which first dropped to 9 km/liter and now it is showing only 5 km/liter.
However, it was not clear in the video whether Saurav was telling the overall fuel average of the car or the real-time mileage, which varies depending on the road, traffic and driving style.
Reason given for E20 petrol
Saurav Joshi claimed that the biggest reason for the falling mileage of his car was ethanol It is blended petrol. He said that this problem is coming to light due to the fuel available at local petrol pumps. His wife and content creator Avantika Bhatt, who was present with him in the video, also said that so much money has been spent on this car, but now its condition is worrying.
Saurav also told that earlier his Mercedes used to show a driving range of about 800 kilometers when filled with a full tank, but now the same full tank is showing a range of only 480 kilometers. He said that now he is afraid even to fill petrol because he is worried that the engine might get damaged. He also told that he also has Mercedes’ electric G-Wagon, so there is no need to worry about ethanol blended petrol in that vehicle.
After this video of Saurav Joshi surfaced, its clip quickly went viral on X and Instagram. Many people seemed to agree with him, while some users said that it would not be right to reach any conclusion after looking at the real-time mileage.
Mercedes statement came
Shortly after Saurav Joshi’s video went viral, Mercedes-Benz issued an advisory for its customers. Although the company did not take the name of Saurav Joshi in its statement, it kept its point clear on the concerns being raised regarding E20 petrol.
The company said, “At Mercedes-Benz, customer safety, vehicle reliability and superior performance are our biggest priorities. All our BS6 petrol vehicles are fully compatible with E20 fuel and are also certified for the same by the relevant government agencies.” It is clear that all BS6 vehicles of Mercedes-Benz have been designed and tested to run on the existing ethanol blended E20 petrol. In such a situation, customers do not need to worry.
What does the government say?
The Indian government is promoting E20 petrol across the country. The government says that this will reduce carbon emissions and reduce dependence on imported fuel. This will provide economic benefits to the farmers of the country and will also help in reducing pollution. However, the government is also saying that due to this, a slight drop in mileage is possible but it will not cause any harm to the vehicles.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has already rejected the claims of E20 petrol causing engine damage. He had said that many such things are being spread on social media without concrete evidence. He says that there has been no confirmed case of any car engine malfunctioning due to E20 petrol and such claims are being exaggerated. Gadkari has openly challenged the critics to name any vehicle that has been damaged by E20 petrol.
Earlier, Bihar’s famous YouTuber and Jan Suraj Party leader Manish Kashyap had also raised questions on E20 petrol regarding his new Toyota Innova Hycross. By posting two separate videos, Manish had claimed that due to ethanol blended E20 petrol, the mileage of his vehicle has reduced and the components of the car have also suffered huge damage. However, in this case Toyota had said that this happened due to contaminated petrol and not due to ethanol blended E20 petrol.
Till date, Saurav does not confirm the claims made in Joshi’s video.
