This time, Muzaffarnagar Police and District Administration have prepared a hi-tech plan for security regarding the Kanwar Yatra starting from July 30. For the first time, the entire Kanwar route will be monitored through about 2500 CCTV cameras equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. Along with face detection, crowd reading, drone surveillance and social media monitoring, ATS, black commandos, bomb disposal squad and heavy police force will also be deployed.

The Kanwar Yatra held in the month of Sawan attracts crores of devotees every year. Most of the Kanwariyas carrying Ganga water from Haridwar go to different districts of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Muzaffarnagar pass through. Muzaffarnagar is considered one of the most sensitive districts from security point of view.

Keeping this in view, this time the police has completely linked the security system with technology. About 2500 AI based CCTV cameras will be installed during the yatra. These cameras will have facilities like face detection, crowd reading and automatic alert system, through which suspicious activities and crowd situation can be monitored in real time.

Drones in the sky, commandos on the ground

Kanwar route will be monitored with cameras as well as drones, while ATS, Black Commando, PAC, RRF, LIU, Traffic Police, Home Guards, Bomb Disposal Squad and local police will be deployed on the ground. Apart from this, policemen in plain clothes will also be present among the devotees, so that immediate action can be taken on any suspicious activity.

This time, not only the main control room, but every police station complex connected to Kanwar Marg will also be made a mini control room. Along with the police, employees of the electricity, health and sanitation departments will also be present round the clock, so that immediate help can be provided in case of any emergency.

The police have also made preparations to keep a strict vigil on those who spread rumors on social media or try to spoil the atmosphere. For this, a separate team has been formed under the supervision of SP City and SP Rural. If any inflammatory or objectionable post comes to light, action will be taken to remove it immediately and action will also be taken against the person concerned.

ADG took stock of the preparations

On Wednesday, Meerut Zone ADG Bhanu Bhaskar along with DIG Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar SSP, District Magistrate and officials of other departments took stock of the Kanwar route. Officials visited Purkaji, Nai Mandi, Mansoorpur, Khatauli, Khalapar and Nagar Kotwali area. After this, route management, crowd control, medical aid, fire fighting, electricity and other arrangements were reviewed in the meeting.

The ADG said that like last year, this time also the priority is to conduct a safe and organized Kanwar Yatra. For this, additional police force and necessary resources will be provided. He said that with the help of AI based monitoring system and expert agencies, any activity will be identified and action will be taken in time.
