A high level delegation from India reached Tehran and paid tribute at the funeral of former Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The delegation included Bihar Governor Lieutenant General (retired) Syed Ata Hasnain and Minister of State for External Affairs Pavitra Margherita.

Hasnain said in a post on social media, “Today tehran Represented India along with Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Pious Margherita at the funeral ceremony of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei in 2017. Along with this, he also expressed deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent conflict.

In a post on social media, Mehbooba Mufti said, “It is my honor to be in Tehran to express my deep condolences and solidarity on the martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei. He was a respected leader who had the courage to stand against the tide and fight for the oppressed.”
Public funeral ceremonies will be held on 5, 6 and 7 July in Tehran and Qom. He will be buried in his hometown Mashhad on July 9.
