Preparation to reduce the burden of lakhs of students
According to the news coming from the parliamentary committee meeting, the members believe that in the present system, a huge crowd of crores of candidates gather for a single examination (NEET). If separate entrance examinations are conducted for MBBS, AYUSH and Nursing, then the pressure of excessive number of candidates in any one examination can be reduced. This will not only make it easier to handle the administrative system, but will also reduce the mental stress of the students.
NTA expressed practical problems
However, there are technical and practical obstacles in the way of this big change. National Testing Agency (NTA) officials clarified before the committee that it is not practical to conduct separate examinations under the existing medical education structure. The main reason for this is that at present the counseling and seats of all these three courses (MBBS, AYUSH, and Nursing) are decided on the basis of the score card of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

NTA has made strict security arrangements to prevent paper leaks
During the meeting, the committee appreciated NTA for the successful conduct of the recently conducted NEET re-exam. On this occasion, NTA officials gave details of the strict measures taken to prevent incidents like paper leaks and rigging in future. The committee has made it clear that the decision to move NEET to online or computer mode should be taken only when strong digital infrastructure and technical preparations are completed across the country, especially in rural and remote areas. The main objective of the committee is to ensure that due to any new changes, students from any part of the country do not face inequality due to lack of digital facilities and everyone gets equal opportunities.
