Sapna’s brother Satyendra Sahu alleges that after the marriage, the in-laws were angry about dowry and were continuously demanding gold chain, AC and other items. He says that a new cooler was also given a few days ago, but despite this the harassment did not stop.
According to family members, Sapna had gone back from her maternal home to her in-laws’ house on June 18. He had talked to his brother on phone at around 11 pm on Saturday night. The brother claims that Sapna had said, “Take me away from here, I don’t feel like it.” The family had assured to bring him on Tuesday as it was Trayodashi of his elder father-in-law.
On Sunday morning, Sapna’s husband Abhishek called to say that she was not saying anything. As soon as the information was received, the parents reached the in-laws’ house, where Sapna was found lying unconscious on the bed in the room. He was immediately taken to the medical college, but the doctors declared him dead.
Satyendra Sahu alleges that his sister was mentally harassed for dowry and her husband also did not give her enough time. He says that he suspects that Sapna has been murdered. In this regard, he has given a written complaint to the Kotwali police.
Kotwali police say that the post-mortem of the dead body is being conducted. The cause of death will become clear after the post mortem report comes. At present, all aspects are being investigated on the basis of complaint from the maternal side. Police say that further legal action will be taken based on the report and evidence.
