There was chaos due to a fire in a multi-storey building located in Aliganj Sector-D area of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. After being hit by the fire, the students present in the coaching center above had to hide in the bathroom to save their lives. During the incident, a student jumped from the first floor to save his life, due to which he was seriously injured.
According to the information, pet shops and clinics were being operated in the basement, ground floor and first floor of the building where the fire broke out. On the second floor, a coaching center named ‘Learning Space’ and ‘Head Hopper Studio’ were operated, where 3D art production and game asset outsourcing work is done.
According to eyewitnesses, after the fire, smoke started spreading rapidly in the building. Caught between smoke and fire, the students locked themselves in the bathroom to keep themselves safe and started waiting for help. During this, a student got scared and jumped from the first floor. He was seriously injured after falling on the grill below and was sent to the hospital for treatment.
After a long time of receiving information about the incident, several fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and started the operation to extinguish the fire. After a lot of effort, the fire was controlled and the people trapped in the building were taken out safely.
At present, the cause of the fire has not been officially revealed. However, there is initial suspicion that the fire may have broken out due to a short circuit in the air conditioner (AC) installed in the basement. Police and fire department teams are investigating the matter. This incident has once again raised questions on the fire safety arrangements in buildings used for commercial and educational activities.
