Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has issued notice in the case of senior IFS officer Sanjeev Chaturvedi of Uttarakhand. Sanjeev Chaturvedi is the director of Uttarakhand Forestry Training Academy (UFTA) in Haldwani. This matter is related to reducing the grading of his Annual Confidential Report (ACR).

The tribunal in this case Uttarakhand A notice has been sent to the Principal Secretary (Forest). Apart from this, notice has also been issued to the Chief Secretary and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF). Everyone has been given six weeks to reply.

The hearing of this case took place on June 19 in front of Judicial Member Justice Rajveer Singh Verma. During the hearing, Sanjeev Chaturvedi challenged his ACR grading for the financial year 2024-25. His grading was reduced from 9.74 to 9.30.

‘Revenge’

In his petition, he alleged that this grading has been reduced without any solid reason and with bad intentions. He says that last year he had exposed many scams and irregularities, that is why this step was taken against him.

Chaturvedi also mentioned the words of his old reporting officer in the petition. In that report, he was described as an honest and innovative officer. He promoted the use of AI in forest management. He was also praised for saving biodiversity and creating the state’s first Buransh Garden in Munsiyari.

What is the whole matter?

According to the petition, in December 2024, Sanjeev Chaturvedi had given an investigation report on the irregularities in the construction work of eco-hut in Munsiyari. It was alleged in this report that quotations from fake companies were used to purchase construction material. Also, the earnings from Eco-Hut were transferred to the account of an unregistered private company.

Chaturvedi had also recommended the investigation of this case by CBI and ED. Chaturvedi alleges that his ACR grading has been reduced because he raised his voice against corruption.
