A 70-year-old man who was out for a morning walk in the Colonelganj area of Prayagraj was allegedly shot dead by two unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle. Assistant Police Commissioner (Colonelganj) Vimal Kishore Mishra said that this incident happened at Lalla Chungi intersection of Colonelganj police station area at around 7 in the morning.
ACP said that the deceased has been identified as Ram Dulare Koiri, resident of Shivkuti. He was standing at the intersection when two assailants riding a motorcycle reached there and opened fire on him. He told that Ram Dulare was taken to SRN Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police busy searching for the attackers
Mishra said that the police have received footage from CCTV cameras installed near the incident site and the attackers have been identified. He said that efforts are being made to arrest him. ACP said that the motive of the murder will be known only after the arrest and interrogation of the accused.
Police said that after completing the legal formalities the body has been sent for post-mortem. There is an atmosphere of fear in the area after this incident.
