At the same time, the Supreme Court has issued a new guideline regarding compensation claims in case of death or injury of a housewife in a road accident. The court said that when a family is deprived of the domestic care and services of its housewife due to an accident, it is very important to assess her contribution while deciding the compensation.

For this purpose, the Supreme Court has fixed the minimum value of ‘domestic care loss’ at Rs 30,000 per month. Instructions to Chief Justice of High Court to provide justice on time

The bench said that this principle is in addition to the standards set in earlier decisions. The Supreme Court has expressed hope from the Chief Justices of all the High Courts of the country that they should themselves monitor such cases. With this, motor accident compensation claims will be settled faster and within the time limit.
