After the strict stance of the Delhi High Court, the Delhi Development Authority and the administration have taken major bulldozer action against illegal constructions in areas like Majnu Ka Tila, Wazirabad, Jagatpur and Monastery Market falling in the submerged area of ​​Yamuna river i.e. ‘O-Zone’. After this action, people’s curiosity has increased to know how many zones Delhi has been divided into in terms of development and master plan and in which zone their own area falls.

According to DDA’s master plan, Delhi For the planned development of the city, the entire capital has been divided into a total of 15 planning zones, identified from A to P (except I). The first Zone A covers Old Delhi and the inner walled areas like Chandni Chowk, Jama Masjid, Kashmiri Gate, Paharganj and Sadar Bazaar, next to it comes Zone B, which is an extension of Old Delhi and includes core areas like Karol Bagh, Patel Nagar, Anand Parvat and Sarai Rohilla. Talking about North Delhi, areas like Azadpur, Civil Lines, Kamla Nagar, Delhi University North Campus, Model Town and Ashok Vihar come under Zone C.

The center of power and the VVIP part of the country has been kept in Zone D, which includes the entire Lutyens Delhi, Connaught Place, Chanakyapuri, Khan Market and Lodhi Road. Whereas, the entire area across the Yamuna i.e. East Delhi is called Zone E, which includes densely populated areas like Shahdara, Mayur Vihar, Laxmi Nagar, Preet Vihar and Anand Vihar.

Major and developed parts of South Delhi have been included in Zone F, which includes Saket, Vasant Kunj, Greater Kailash, Green Park, Hauz Khas and Nehru Place. The main part of West Delhi is called Zone G, which includes large residential and commercial areas like Rajouri Garden, Punjabi Bagh, Janakpuri, Vikaspuri and Uttam Nagar.

Rohini Phase 1 and 2, Pitampura, Shalimar Bagh and Saraswati Vihar have been placed in Zone H under the planned development of North-West Delhi. In contrast, the outskirts and rural and urban village areas of South Delhi such as Mehrauli, Chhatarpur, Sainik Farms and Ghitorni have been placed under Zone J. A large part of south-west Delhi falls in Zone K, which includes the entire Dwarka sub-city, Najafgarh, Palam and the area of ​​Indira Gandhi International Airport. Far western rural border and areas like Tikri Kalan and Najafgarh have been kept in Zone L.

Rohini Phase 3, 4, 5, Mangolpuri and Sultanpuri have been included in Zone M. Further, the outer rural areas adjacent to the Haryana border like Bawana, Kanjhawala and Alipur have been kept under Zone N. After this comes the most famous Zone O, which is the completely submerged area of ​​the Yamuna River. In this zone, Majnu Ka Tila, Jagatpur and Madanpur Khadar’s alluvium come where bulldozers have been running recently. The last part is Zone P, which is divided into PI and P-II and includes areas of North Delhi like Narela Sub-city, Alipore and Burari.
