Ingredients:

  • 1 kg petha (white pumpkin)
  • 700 to 800 grams sugar
  • 1 tsp alum
  • half teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1 tsp kewra water
  • water as per need

Method of making:

1. To make Petha Murabba, peel the Petha thoroughly and remove its seeds. Now cut it into small pieces as per your wish.

2. After the petha is cut, take water in a big vessel and dissolve alum in it. Soak the cut petha pieces in this water for 3 to 4 hours. By doing this the murabba becomes crispy, transparent and delicious.

3. after this Wash the soaked petha thoroughly with clean water so that the alum is completely removed. Now heat water in a vessel and boil the petha pieces lightly. Keep in mind that the petha should not melt too much, otherwise the murabba will start breaking.

4. Make syrup by adding sugar and some water in a pan. When the syrup starts to thicken slightly, add boiled petha pieces into it. Keep cooking it on low flame. After some time the petha pieces will start appearing transparent. If this happens then understand that your murabba is being prepared properly.

5. When the murabba is ready, add cardamom powder and kewra water to it and mix. This will give good aroma and taste to the murabba. Now let it cool completely and then store it in a clean and dry glass jar.
