What promise was made to the youth regarding employment and internship?
TVK’s manifesto also promises youth internship scholarship for 5 lakh youth, in which graduate students will get Rs 10,000 per month and ITI/diploma holders will get Rs 8,000 per month. It is estimated that this will put an annual burden of Rs 5,400 crore on the Tamil Nadu government.

Vijay’s manifesto also mentions an unemployment grant of Rs 4,000 per month for 10 lakh people, which will cost the exchequer Rs 4,800 crore annually. He has promised to give additional premium in health insurance of 1.5 crore families, which will take the total premium from Rs 849 to Rs 1,698.

Announcement for fishermen also
Apart from this, he promised to provide financial assistance of Rs 27,000 per year to 2.02 lakh families involved in fishing business, which will cost Rs 545 crore from the state exchequer.

heavy burden on the state
Accordingly, the state will have to spend approximately Rs 1 lakh crore on the election promises of the new government, which is an increase of more than 52% compared to Rs 65,000 crore spent on welfare schemes and subsidies in 2025-26 by the MK Stalin-led DMK government.

Revenue for Tamil Nadu’s Budget 2025-26 is ₹3.31 lakh crore, of which TVK’s proposed welfare expenditure accounts for 29.8%, while DMK’s expenditure accounts for 19.7%. This means that if the election promises are fulfilled, there could be a huge burden on Tamil Nadu.
