A painful road accident on Monday morning in Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh turned a happy journey into mourning. In this accident that took place near Jolhupur turn of Kalpi Kotwali area, 6 people of the same family died, while 4 others were seriously injured. Everyone was returning home from Ayodhya after having darshan of Lord Ramlala.
According to the information received, Shashikant Tiwari, resident of Mehrauni in Lalitpur district, had gone to Ayodhya with his family. When they were returning around 6 am on Monday, the driver driving the car suddenly fell asleep. Meanwhile, the car went out of control and collided with an unknown vehicle moving ahead.
The collision was so severe that the car was badly damaged and its occupants were trapped inside. A total of 10 people were present in the car at the time of the accident. Of these, 4 people died on the spot, while 2 died during treatment in the hospital. The condition of 4 injured people remains critical and their treatment is going on.
According to eyewitnesses, the scene after the accident was very frightening. The front part of the car was completely shattered. The local people and the police had to work hard for about an hour to take out the injured. A rescue operation was conducted to rescue the passengers trapped in the cabin.
As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and started relief work. The dead bodies have been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem. Investigation of the matter is ongoing. Superintendent of Police Vinay Kumar Singh said that this accident happened on National Highway-27 and all the deceased are residents of Lalitpur district. This accident once again highlights the need for road safety and vigilance during long distance travel.
