These days, the trend of micro drama shows has increased amid the dominance of saas-bahu drama and reality shows. Karanvir Bohra, one of the talented actors of TV, is active in this space. His new show ‘Deal To Pagal Hai’ is streaming on Bullet App. In this, Karanvir is playing the role of Aviraj Goyal. Along with acting, he has also directed and produced this show. Karanvir has co-created the show with Madhavi Bhojwani. Geeta Chaudhary, Ishika Makhija also play important roles in the show.
While talking to Aaj Tak Dot In, Karanvir told about his show. While TV stars are running towards films and OTT, why has Karanvir chosen micro drama shows in such an era? When will he return to TV screens? Know the answers to all these questions…
Tell us about the show. You have also directed it. How was the experience?
The show ‘Deal To Pagal Hai’ has been made by me and my friend together. We are two partners. I am also acting in it, I have directed the show with my partner Madhavi. My partner has also written the show. Korean and Chinese dramas are often seen in microdrama. Madhavi has written such a brilliant show, it seems like a Gen-G show of Yash Raj. The show is very spunky, youthful, family drama and entertaining.
On keeping the title of the film ‘Deal To Pagal Hai’, Karanvir said – We all are dealing with something or the other in our life. Children are doing it with their parents or making a girlfriend-boyfriend deal. We always deal in every relationship. Children are told that if you get good marks, you will get a car, if you do business, if you get married, the company will grow. There’s always a deal going on. Such a great rom-com has been made based on that emotion. Such a rom-com has never been made before in the micro drama space.
Why did you decide to make micro dramas instead of daily shows?
When I got the acting offer for this for the first time, I thought micro drama is a good space. It will grow a lot in future. We saw this opportunity. Madhavi and I first started a company. In that I said that we will produce and direct your micro drama. I will also act in that show, because we already have the setup. We have done production before also. We definitely know direction. Now a good writer has also been found. So the whole package deal is done. So we thought why not make this show ourselves. Karanvir told that before the show ‘Deal To Pagal Hai’, he had made shows for other platforms. But the fun of doing an original show is something else.
-You have not been seen in any reality show for a long time. Special reason for keeping distance from these shows?
There is no special reason. We have entered the micro drama space so deep that there is no time. Here we are not just acting. We are also producing and directing these shows. We are doing 5 micro dramas a month. That’s where time goes. It has a much wider scope. Micro drama has got a huge audience. 10 new dramas are coming continuously every week on Bullet App. We saw this scope and grabbed the opportunity. It is said that those who come first have the advantage.
-There is so much craze for micro drama, then why are big actors not seen much in these shows?
Other actors are still unable to understand whether to do micro drama or not. At one time the trend of web series came. Then the big stars kept distance from it. Today the same thinking is regarding micro drama. Those who came first and tried their hand in web series are dominant today. Our aim is also that when we produce, we become Yashraj of micro drama, when we act, we become Amitabh Bachchan of micro drama.
-Amidst such a busy schedule, will fans be able to see you on the small screen?
If I get a good TV show, I will definitely do it. I am doing a web series. 15 days time has been taken for that. Then I also did a film and took one month’s time for it. The shop should continue to operate.
-‘You also worked in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Many old actors have returned in the reboot version. Akashdeep Sehgal has entered.
I am very happy for Akashdeep. People should just keep working. We have got such a good opportunity. Got medium. Be it TV or web, even micro drama. Everyone should do it. In the coming days, many big people will come to micro drama. Micro dramas are being made because people’s attention span has reduced. This is such a space that an episode ends in 2 minutes. Then you have to see another one. There are a lot of hooks in this. Just as micro drama shoots are being made, in future TV and series will also be made in the same manner. You don’t get that much money in micro drama. But we have to pay attention to quality. Later Yash Raj and Red Chillies are also going to come in this field.
-In the show Lockup, it was revealed that he was in debt and not getting work. Today after 4 years you have a lot of work. How did you complete this journey?
It is very important not to be disappointed. There are ups and downs in everyone’s life. Bachchan Saheb has also seen difficult times. There have been ups and downs in Modi ji’s life too. But don’t be disappointed, just stand firm. You do not have to forget your goal. That time also passed. Good time is coming. Even bad times pass. You just have to remain steady. This philosophy of life has helped me.
