A sensational incident of bank robbery has come to light in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand. Four masked miscreants with weapons entered the Bank of Maharashtra located on Hazaribagh Road in Barhi police station area and committed a major robbery. Within just 10 minutes, the miscreants fled with gold worth about Rs 7 crore and cash worth about Rs 5 lakh.
Police investigation has revealed that this entire incident was planned in advance. Two miscreants had earlier reached the bank posing as customers and pretended to open a current account. After some time, his two companions also entered inside the bank. After this, all four suddenly took out weapons and started threatening the bank employees.
As soon as the miscreants entered the bank, they gathered the employees and customers present at one place. Everyone was intimidated by showing weapons and threatened with serious consequences if they protested. During this time, the bank manager was also beaten up, so that panic spread among the entire staff.
According to eyewitnesses, the entire robbery took place in just 10 minutes. The miscreants entered the bank at around 3:19 pm and by 3:29 pm they had committed the crime and went out. During this time no one even got a chance to understand what was happening. The robbers took away the gold loan present in the bank and the gold kept in the locker. Along with this, cash was also taken away from the cash counter.
As soon as information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot and blockade was imposed in the entire area. The CCTV footage inside the bank is being scrutinized so that the miscreants can be identified. Police believe that this could be the work of an organized gang, which had already conducted recce of the bank.
Bank employees told that two dacoits had earlier come to the bank on the pretext of opening a current account. Then two more people entered from behind. They also had small weapons. With the force of arms, all the bank employees were asked to move aside. After that he assaulted the bank manager. After carrying out the incident at gunpoint, they came out of the bank within 10 minutes.
Barhi SDPO Ajit Kumar Vimal said that four dacoits have carried out the incident. A blockade has been imposed in the area. In this incident, gold worth Rs 7 crore and Rs 5 lakh was looted. Investigation is also going on inside the bank. CCTV footage is being scanned. Hazaribagh SP Aman Kumar told Aaj Tak on phone that this matter will be revealed soon. Based on police input, raids are being conducted in neighboring states, arrests will be made soon.
