He said that this airport was approved in 2003, but it remained buried in the files for years. Only after 2014 and after the change of government in Uttar Pradesh, this project gained momentum and now it is ready.

He said that this airport was approved by Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government in the year 2003 itself. But after that, for many years this project remained buried only in the files.
The Prime Minister said that the Congress government at the Center and the then governments of Uttar Pradesh did not even allow the foundation of this airport to be laid. Till 2014, this project continued only on paper.
He said that when his government was formed at the Centre, there was Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh. In the initial years, work on this project could not progress there either.
Prime Minister Modi said that as soon as the BJP government was formed both at the Center and in the state, this project gained momentum. He said that after this the foundation of Jewar Airport was laid, construction took place and now it has also been inaugurated.
The Prime Minister said that the earlier rulers were afraid to even come to Noida. Sharing his experience, he said that when he had planned to come here, the then Chief Minister himself did not come and an attempt was made to stop him from coming.
He said that today the same Noida is ready to welcome the whole world and has become a strong engine of development of Uttar Pradesh.
