In this accident, the person driving the scooter and the person sitting behind were injured. Both the injured were immediately taken to the hospital, where they were discharged after first aid. Officials said that during medical examination, both the injured were found to be in a state of intoxication, due to which questions are being raised on the cause of the accident.
As soon as the news of this accident spread in the area, the local people became angry and protests started. The protest soon turned violent and people started targeting the vehicles of the security forces. In Tuibong market area, protesters attacked a four-wheeler, vandalized it and set it on fire. This created chaos in the area.
Police said that the angry mob also set on fire another vehicle, which belonged to the security forces. During this time there was a clash between the security personnel and the protesters, in which many soldiers were seriously injured. Apart from this, many vehicles were damaged. To bring the situation under control, additional security forces were sent to the spot and surveillance was increased in the area.
After the incident, the police took immediate action and arrested five people. They have been accused of attacking security forces vehicles, vandalism and arson.
