He specifically named his cousin and actor Ranbir Kapoor and sister Karisma Kapoor and suggested that perhaps they might consider taking the iconic brand forward. Kareena said that RK Studios is very close to her heart as it was established by her grandfather Raj Kapoor in 1948 and has been an iconic heritage of Indian cinema. But he argued that restarting it in today’s time is not an easy task. There was talk of starting RK Studio, in fact recently there were reports that Ranbir Kapoor is going to start RK Studio again. He has purchased a five-storey building for RK Studio in Andheri area. This building has been taken on a 20-year lease in Kanakia Wall Street Commercial Building. In which RK Studio will be built again, which will have an art studio, make-up room, screening room and temple. So a floor has also been kept for music and editing. This time the entire family is going to manage the studio together. RK Studio family sold the old RK Studio of Chembur for 180 crores. Built by the legendary Raj Kapoor in 1948.
