Method of worship of Maa Shailputri
On the first day of Navratri, install the idol or picture of Maa Shailputri on a wooden post by spreading a red cloth. Goddess is very fond of white colored things. That’s why they wear white clothes. White flowers and white sweets are offered. You can also offer coconut, milk or milk products, pure cow ghee to the Goddess. It is believed that by worshiping Mother Shailputri, girls get their desired groom.

Who is Maa Shailputri?
The legend says that once Daksh Prajapati performed a big yagya. In this he invited many gods and goddesses. But did not send invitation to Lord Shiva. Whereas his daughter Sati was anxious to go to the yagya. Lord Shiva did not want to go to that Yagya, because going there without invitation was an insult to him. However, on Sati’s request, Mahadev allowed her to go to the yagya.
When Sati reached there, she saw contempt and hatred towards Lord Shiva in everyone’s mind. Daksh Prajapati also said many derogatory things about Lord Shiva. This deeply hurt his heart. Sati could not bear this insult of her husband and jumped into the yagya and burnt her body. It is believed that in the next birth, Sati was born as the daughter of mountain king Himalaya and was called Mata Shailputri.
Auspicious time for Ghatasthapana
Ghatasthapana is done on the first day of Navratri i.e. on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada Tithi. Only after this the worship of the goddess begins. This year, the first Muhurta of Ghatasthapana will be on March 19 from 6:52 am to 7:43 am. Then Ghatasthapana can be done in Abhijeet Muhurta from 12:05 pm to 12:53 pm.
