On Saturday, the second day of India Today Conclave 2026 being held in New Delhi, there was a big discussion about the ongoing war in the world. Germany’s Ambassador to India Dr Philipp Ackermann, Italy’s Ambassador to India Antonio Bartoli and Spain’s Ambassador to India Juan Antonio March Pujol participated in a special session of the program ‘AMBASSADORS’ DEBRIEF Europe & America: The Diplomatic Frontline’.

German Ambassador to India Philipp Ackermann has said that it would not be right to remove the price cap imposed on Russian oil. They believe that if this is done, Russia will get more money and it can continue the war in Ukraine for a longer time. He said, ‘My opinion is that removing the price cap on Russian oil is not a good idea, because we do not want Russia to get so much money that it can start the war again in Ukraine or continue it. He also said that Europe is not buying Russian oil. ‘We do not buy Russian oil and we do not have even a drop of it.’

War is also affecting the global oil market
Philipp Ackermann said that the ongoing tension in West Asia is also affecting the global oil market. According to him, the Strait of Homruz is almost closed, due to which oil prices are increasing. Our economies are slowing down and people are dissatisfied. These are the consequences of a war in which we are not even directly involved. He also clarified that European countries are not part of this conflict, but are monitoring the situation at the diplomatic level. In his words, “This is not our war. No European country is involved in it, but that does not mean that we do not talk to the US or ask them what the future plans are.
