Amidst the ongoing crisis in West Asia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on phone with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. This was the first direct talk between PM Modi and the President of Iran amid the current war.

After talking to Pejeshkian, PM Modi said that the safety of Indian citizens, uninterrupted supply of goods and energy is India’s top priority.

He said that the serious situation in the region was discussed with Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pejeshkian. Expressed deep concern over the increasing tension in the area, civilian deaths and damage to civilian infrastructure. The safety of Indian citizens, uninterrupted movement of goods and energy are India’s top priorities. Meanwhile, India reiterated its commitment towards peace and stability and urged to find a solution through dialogue and diplomacy.

Let us tell you that this conversation between the two leaders took place at a time when Iran has almost closed the Strait of Hormuz. This is a very strategically important sea route, through which about one-fifth of the world’s crude oil and natural gas is supplied.

Along with this blockade, Iran’s attacks on the oil installations of Gulf countries and the actions of America and Israel in Iran have badly affected the oil supply globally. Due to this, there is a huge shortage of oil and a sharp rise in prices across the world.
