A case of alleged police bullying has come to light in Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh. An inspector posted at the police station here is accused of assaulting a street vendor and forcibly taking away his coconuts in a car when he asked for money. After the video of this incident went viral on social media, there has been a stir in the police department and resentment is also being seen in business organizations.
After the matter gained momentum, the Superintendent of Police took action against the accused Inspector and put him on the line. The incident is being reported from Hasanpur Kotwali area.
Dispute over asking for money after drinking two coconuts
According to the information, Sagar, resident of Mohalla Kala Shaheed, died on Wednesday. Amroha He sells coconut water near the bus stand. It is alleged that Sub-Inspector Isham Singh, in-charge of the ‘Critical Corridor Team’ posted at Hasanpur Bus Stand intersection, reached there along with one of his colleagues and drank water from two coconuts.
When Sagar asked for Rs 140 for both the coconuts, the inspector got angry. It is alleged that he slapped the young man publicly and threatened to remove the shop. After this, the Inspector forcibly loaded the coconuts kept on the cart into his car and took them to the police station.
Anger among business organizations after the video went viral
After the video of the incident went viral on social media, there was anger among local traders. State General Secretary of Merchant Security Forum Institute Mukesh Gupta termed it as police robbery and warned of agitation.
Amidst increasing pressure, the police returned the coconuts to the young man. However, the victim alleges that there were three coconuts less in the returned items.

Police started investigation
On the other hand, the accused Inspector says that this action was taken during the anti-encroachment campaign. However, his claim has come under question after coconuts were seen being loaded into a police vehicle in the viral video.
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand has sent Sub-Inspector Isham Singh to the police line with immediate effect. Also, detailed investigation of the entire matter has been handed over to Area Magistrate Hasanpur. Officials say that if found guilty in the investigation, departmental action will be taken against the concerned.
