Director Priyadarshan has given clarification on his statement in which he had called Rajpal Yadav less educated. The director says that his statement was misinterpreted, he did not want to let the actor down. Priyadarshan gave clarification when Rajpal Yadav clarified on his statement that he is educated.
Priyadarshan recently said in an interview to Hindustan Times, ‘Actually, I did not mean that. See, education is not only obtained from books, but a lot can be learned from the road also. I just meant that (street smartness), because education also means awareness. That’s all I wanted to say.’
He further said, ‘Maybe he comes from a village and the village people are very innocent, they do not understand, you should know how to differentiate between right and wrong people. That is education in the broadest sense.
In the conversation, Priyadarshan also said that his intention was not to humiliate Rajpal in any way. He said, ‘I didn’t mean anything like that. I didn’t want to offend them. I said this because I have never seen such an innocent person like Rajpal in my life, in the broad sense this innocence comes only from lack of education.
