Salim Khan Health Update | Javed Akhtar Shares Good News

The health of veteran screenwriter and Salman Khan’s father Salim Khan is improving and now he has started talking while sitting on a chair. Author Javed Akhtar gave this information during a book launch event in Delhi recently. Salim Khan is admitted in Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai since February 17.

After Salim Khan was admitted to the hospital, many celebs including Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan came to meet him. Javed Akhtar has also visited the hospital several times and met him. Earlier, regarding Khan’s health, Aamir Khan had said that his health is improving and he can return home soon.

Aamir Khan, who attended the Mumbai Press Club event, had said, “I had gone to meet Salim Sahab. We are all praying that he gets well as soon as possible. Because he was in the ICU, I could not meet him personally. I was sitting with his family. Alvira ji is telling me every day that his health is improving. We all are praying, praying that he comes home once again.”

Late evening on 24th February, Aamir Khan had reached Lilavati Hospital for the second time to inquire about the well-being of Salim Khan.

Let us tell you that on February 18, the doctor of Lilavati Hospital had given Salim Khan’s health update. However, after that the family was instructed not to make the medical update public. After this, no official update came out regarding his health.

Salim Khan admitted to Lilavati Hospital

Salim Khan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital on the morning of 17 February due to brain related problem. He was brought to the emergency at around 8:30 in the morning. After the initial investigation, a special team of doctors was formed, which assessed his condition.

On February 18, Dr. Jalil Parkar of Lilavati Hospital had informed that Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) was done on Salim Khan. According to doctors, this is not brain surgery. DSA is an advanced diagnostic test that can clearly visualize the condition and possible blockage of nerves in the brain.

Dr. Jalil Parkar is a well-known pulmonologist i.e. specialist in respiratory diseases in Mumbai, who is associated with Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre.

At the same time, on February 20, information came to light that Salim Khan’s family wants information related to his health to be kept private. According to Variety India report, Salman Khan and his family were upset with the hospital’s public statement on Wednesday. A source close to the family said that health is a personal matter and talking to the media should be left to the family.

Career started in the 1960s

Salim Khan is 90 years old. He was born on 24 November 1935. He is one of the veteran scriptwriters of Hindi cinema. Salim Khan started his career with acting. His career started with the film Baaraat in the 1960s, but he got only limited and small roles in films.

After working in about two dozen films, he realized that writing, not acting, was the real strength. After this he turned to writing and became a scriptwriter.

In his early days of acting, Salim Khan used the name ‘Prince Salim’.

‘Salim-Javed’ pair became famous

The pair of Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar has been famous by the name of ‘Salim-Javed’. Together they gave many superhit and memorable films to Hindi cinema, like Zanjeer, Deewaar, Sholay, Don and Sita Aur Geeta. The powerful stories and dialogues of these films settled in the hearts of people.

The scripts written by him changed the style of films. He made strong characters, dialogues and social issues a part of the story. With the success of Salim-Javed, writers got new recognition and respect in the film industry and they also started getting importance like stars.

Salim-Javed are considered to be the first writers of Indian cinema, who got ‘star status’. He played an important role in establishing the ‘angry young man’ image of Amitabh Bachchan.

Salim Khan married twice

Talking about personal life, Salim Khan married twice. His first marriage was to Salma Khan (formerly Sushila Charak) on 18 November 1964. From this marriage he had four children, Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan and Alvira Khan.

Later in 1981, Salim Khan married actress Helen Richardson. After a few years, Salim Khan and Helen adopted Arpita.

His elder son Salman Khan is counted among the top actors of Hindi cinema, while Arbaaz and Sohail are also active in the film industry. His daughter Alvira is married to actor-director Atul Agnihotri, while Arpita is married to actor Ayush Sharma.
