Israel has appealed to Iranian citizens to take to the streets and topple their government, while Tehran has described the assassination of the Supreme Leader as an ‘open war against Muslims’. The Israeli Army Israel Defense Forces (IDF) made a formal announcement saying that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in an airstrike in Tehran on Saturday. This attack happened on the same day when Israel and America started joint military action.
In a Persian language video released on social media platform iranHe is creating conditions to free the people from the shackles of dictatorship. He said that this opportunity comes once in generations and appealed to the people to be active.
Netanyahu’s statement came after US President Donald Trump’s remarks, in which Trump had said that the Iranian people can handle their own government after the end of the military campaign. On the other hand, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called the attack that killed Khamenei an ‘open war against Muslims’. He said that it is Tehran’s legitimate right and duty to take revenge against the culprits.
Earlier, the head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, also warned that Iran will retaliate against America and Israel with ‘unprecedented force’.
