The police has achieved great success in the campaign against drugs in Delhi. Police have seized more than 1 kg of heroin and arrested a 23-year-old drug peddler. The value of the seized heroin is said to be around Rs 6 crore. The accused belongs to a family which has been associated with narco-trade for a long time.
A police officer said that the accused has been identified as Imran alias Sher Khan, resident of Dilshad Garden. He was arrested on 20 February. At around 3.50 pm, the police team patrolling in Dilshad Garden area saw a young man riding a scooter, who got scared after seeing the police. Started trying to run away.
The police chased and caught him. During the search, a heavy polythene bag hanging from the handle of the scooter was recovered. Two packets of brown and cream colored powder were found in the bag. When tested with a field testing kit, it was found to be heroin. The weight of one packet was 282 grams and the weight of the other was 740 grams. In this way the total recovery was 1.022 kg.
It is considered commercial quantity under the NDPS Act. Police have seized banned drugs and the scooter of the accused. A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Investigation has also revealed that the family of the accused has already been in the clutches of the law.
His mother has been involved in several NDPS cases and is currently expelled from Delhi. A case has already been registered against the father under the NDPS Act. The elder brother is in judicial custody in a similar case. Police say that this family has been continuously active in narco-trade in the trans-Yamuna area. The accused had purchased heroin from a supplier in Raghuveer Nagar.
He was going to deliver this consignment to a receiver in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. Police said that the supplier and receiver are being searched in collaboration with Ghaziabad Police. A gold chain weighing five grams and a mobile phone have also been recovered from the accused. Police suspect that this item was purchased with money earned from crime.
