Uttar Pradesh News: On Tuesday, 60-year-old Sumitra brutally murdered her 65-year-old husband Rampat in Baspar village of Maharajganj district. Rampat was sleeping inside the house when Sumitra set the house on fire and closed the door from outside and ran away.
The villagers informed the police after seeing smoke rising from the house. When the police reached the spot and opened the door, Rampat’s charred body was found. According to the villagers, there was a dispute going on between the husband and wife for a long time and the woman had earlier also tried to kill Rampat.
Old rivalries and domestic disputes
Shyamdeurwa police station chief Abhishek Singh said that in the preliminary investigation, the reason behind the murder appears to be a domestic dispute. The villagers informed the police that there were frequent fights between the two. The police are now also investigating deeply whether the woman had given any threat to Rampat earlier or whether any other incident of violence had taken place.
Police action, accused absconding
Police have registered a case of murder against accused Sumitra under section 103 (1) of BNS. The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem. As a precautionary measure, police force has been deployed in the village and raids are being conducted to nab the absconding accused woman.
