‘2 fell while trying to save the third’: Man who saw Ghaziabad sisters jump from 9th floor at 2am | India News
NEW DELHI: An eyewitness in the Ghaziabad case said that one of the three minor sisters jumped deliberately, while the other two fell trying to stop her.Arun Kumar, a resident of Bharat City Society, said, around 2 am, he saw the girls sitting on a glass balcony in the dark and noticed something wrong.
“It looked pretty unusual,” he said. “It was about 2 a.m., and if there’s no light, it’s a little suspicious, and if someone’s sitting on the porch, it’s even more suspicious.”Moments later, tragedy unfolded.“I saw all three of them jump from the front. The whole thing was over before I realized what was happening or even called,” Kumar said.He added that while one of the sisters was intending to jump, the others seemed to be trying to pull her back.“They were repeatedly trying to fall from behind, and the other person was trying to catch them,” he said. “The plan was one’s – it seemed to me that way. From what I saw, one of them planned to jump and the others fell to save him.”After the fall, Kumar said he ran downstairs and alerted emergency services.“I just went downstairs, called my wife, called the police, called the ambulance and told everyone right away.”The deceased were identified as Nishika (16), Prachi (14) and Pakhi (12), residents of Tower B-1 in Tila Mode police limits.Assistant Commissioner of Police Atul Kumar Singh said the police received the information around 2.15 pm. “On reaching the spot it was confirmed that the girls had died due to the fall. They were taken to a hospital in Loni where doctors declared them brought dead,” he said.Singh added that a window of the room where there was a temple was found open. The sisters allegedly jumped one after the other using chairs placed near the window.Police sources said the girls were addicted to Korean task-based online gaming applications and started calling each other by Korean names. Their parents have repeatedly scolded them for excessive gaming and recently banned them from using the app.Investigators said the sisters slipped quietly out of their bedroom early Wednesday morning, walked to a window in the temple room and allegedly jumped into the darkness below. The parents also found a handwritten note taped to a glass panel, titled “True Life Story” and containing a sad emoji. Written in a Hindi-English mix, it read: “Is diary mein jo kuch vi likha hai o sab pad lo kiyanki yeh sab sach hai. Read now!!! I’m really sorry, sorry dad.”The police also revealed that all three sisters have not attended school since the Covid-19 pandemic. Despite being 16 years old, the eldest was enrolled in only 4th grade, indicating a prolonged educational disruption.Residents rushed to hear the shock. The body has been sent for post-mortem.Officials said they were analyzing handwritten notes, diaries referenced in it and digital evidence linked to the gaming app. All aspects including online activity, family situation and mental health are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.(with input from agencies)
