He was stabbed more than a dozen times,” he said. The teenager had recently appeared for her class 10 board exams and was awaiting her results.“We were all waiting for his results. We were very hopeful for his future,” he said, adding that residents now fear for their safety after the murder. Friends and family remembered him as beloved for his kindness. His aunt said, “We don’t know why someone wanted to hurt him. We are yet to be informed of any clear motive.” The girl is survived by her grandmother, mother, father and her younger sister. At the man’s residence, about 2 km away, relatives claimed that he caused the blast by suicide. They described him as an introvert. The man worked as a delivery executive for an e-commerce company. “He never talked about any girls or mental health issues, including depression or anger,” his mother said. The man is believed to have been home alone at the time of the blast. His mother was at work. His father died 11 months ago.Relatives expressed disbelief at the turn of events. His aunt said, “He would have lived for his mother even if he had lived and gone to jail. He has no one else.” While both the families denied knowing each other, a senior police officer said, “The two knew and were acquainted with each other. Both families were aware.” But the exact motive is under investigation. The two were said to have spoken on the telephone before the incident.Another officer said, “They knew each other since two years ago when the person’s aunt was the girl’s next-door neighbour.” He confirmed that the man himself is believed to have carried out the blast. While the girl’s uncle alleged that more men, allegedly intoxicated, were involved in stabbing her multiple times, the officer denied the claims, saying that only one person was visible on CCTV footage at the scene.
