This fuel consignment has been sent through Lanka IOC (LIOC), the local operation of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC). After facing difficulties in getting fuel from suppliers in the Middle East and Singapore, LIOC India Had sought help from.

The President also thanked External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for his close coordination. Earlier, Sri Lanka had sought help from Jaishankar for energy stability in view of the unstable situation in West Asia.
Let us tell you that from March 15, the Sri Lankan government has implemented fuel quota to prevent hoarding and long queues. Court action has also been taken against those who hoard oil in many areas. However, the Energy Ministry has confirmed that the country now has enough fuel till the end of May.
