Thieves broke the lock of the locked house of a woman head constable posted in Bijnor police station area of Lucknow and escaped with jewelery worth lakhs of rupees and CCTV DVR. The incident has raised questions on the security arrangements of the city.
According to the information, Head Constable Anita Yadav, posted at the Director General of Police Crime Branch Headquarters, had gone to her native village in Rae Bareli on February 12 in connection with the preparations for her son’s wedding to be held on February 19. The house was closed for several days. On February 15, his brother Durgesh Kumar informed on phone that the main lock of the house was broken.

It is being speculated that the thieves first conducted a recce of the house and ensured that the house would remain closed for several days. As soon as information about the incident was received, the police of Bijnor police station reached the spot and started investigation. A case has been registered on the complaint of the victim. The police have formed two teams and a surveillance team and started scanning the footage of other CCTV cameras installed nearby. Police claim that the accused will soon be identified and arrested.
