Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat said on Monday that the foundation of the family in India is based on affection, affinity and emotional connection. He said that with the birth of a child, the fabric of relationships in the family becomes stronger and this is the basic unit of society. Bhagwat was addressing the ‘Kutumb Sneh Milan’ program organized by the Gorakhpur department at the Baba Gambhirnath auditorium in the planetarium as part of the centenary year of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
He said that a family is not formed only by a man and a woman living under one roof, but it is shaped by emotional bonds, which teach values and social life to the next generation. The Sangh chief said that the Indian family system is unique, where relationships are not based on transaction but on affinity. In many western countries, relationships are contractual, whereas in India, a child is born in a family and develops in it. Family is the basis of livelihood, business, savings and national wealth.
Citing the example of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri Mohan Bhagwat Said that on the call of the country, people voluntarily donated gold and valuables, which shows the strength of social and family values. He said that family teaches a person to think beyond himself and social education, economic activity and cultural traditions are passed on from generation to generation through the family. Bhagwat said that mother is the pivot of the family and her role is decisive in shaping the future generation.
He described marriage as a duty, not a contract, and said that a lack of values in the home could lead to social problems. He also said that the expansion of the Sangh was not possible without the support of the families. Emphasizing on environmental protection, water saving, reduction in plastic use, use of mother tongue and adoption of Swadeshi, he called upon the families to have a group dialogue once a week. in the program gorakhpur Workers of urban and rural units and their families were present.
