IAS officer Rinku Singh Rahi of 2022 batch of Uttar Pradesh cadre has tendered technical resignation from his post. After this decision of his, once again questions have been raised on the administrative system. He has written a letter to the President seeking permission to send him back to his parent service, PCS. Rahi says that he has not been given any concrete responsibility for the last eight months, hence taking salary and facilities has become a moral dilemma for him.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav Targeting the government on this issue, he said that there is no respect for capable officers in the BJP government, while people involved in corruption are given preference. At the same time, Azad Samaj Party chief Chandrashekhar Azad also called it a serious problem of the administrative system.

What did Akhilesh write on X?
Akhilesh wrote on X, efficient officers have no importance in the BJP government. In BJP, there is a demand for those whose stolen money gets stolen or who even charge 5% entry fee for investment. Our demand to every good officer is that they should not take any decision out of emotion, bad days are about to end. The PDA government will come and give due respect and place to everyone because the PDA government will be the people’s government, which will truly do development work to solve the problems and remove inequalities.

Akhilesh further wrote, ‘Quality work and completing the work within the stipulated time frame always requires the best officers. We have always valued officers who are proficient in their work and will do so in future also. Be it the victim officers or employees, all are with PDA to remove BJP. ‘Suffering’ is increasing, that is why ‘PDA’ is increasing because ‘Whoever suffers, that is PDA’.

Lucknow Rahi, associated with the Revenue Council, made it clear that this step is not an attempt to leave the system, but is part of a process. He said that he is not separating from public service, but only wants to technically return to his previous service. He also said that he personally does not face any kind of harassment or mental pressure.

What did Rinku Singh Rahi write in his letter?
Rahi wrote in his letter that due to his commitment to the Constitution and efforts to work with accountability, he feels ‘misfit’ in the current system. After completing the training, he was posted as Joint Magistrate in Shahjahanpur in July 2025, but after some time he was removed from active responsibilities.

He alleged that he faced opposition because of the steps taken to increase transparency and against irregularities. Also, due to the revelation of the earlier scam, he had received death threats and was also attacked, in which he was seriously injured and became permanently disabled.

His family in Aligarh also made an emotional appeal saying that Rahi has not resigned but has asked for an opportunity to work with dignity. His family members described him as an honest and principled officer.
