According to the election results, the party got almost half the votes and two-thirds majority, which paved the way for returning to power. Jamaat also performed the best till date, while National Citizen Party stood at third position. In such a situation, questions are being raised whether the talks with these leaders before government formation should be considered only a formal courtesy meeting or a part of political strategy.

The message issued by the party said, “After the historic victory, the President had a courtesy meeting with the Jamaat chief.” This was described as a “positive political beginning” in post-election politics. The Jamaat’s response said, “This meeting is an important moment in our national political journey.” It was also hoped that this dialogue would open a new chapter of mutual respect and responsibility.

The issue of post-election violence was also discussed during the meeting. According to the statement, “He assured that action is being taken on incidents of violence and harm caused to opposition supporters and minority communities.” Jamaat said, “We will cooperate on issues of national interest, but will continue to fulfill the responsibility of a strong opposition.”
